Gong Ting", translated as "Imperial Grade" is a sorting grade often used in shou (ripe) puerh production - for this style of tea, only the youngest buds and smallest leaves are used, giving the tea a uplifting, energetic character and a distinct sweetness and thick creamy texture. Historically, this sort of tea was praised highest and sent to the imperial court as a tribute. Our tea comes from Jinggu area in Pu'er prefecture, Yunnan, China and the leaves were harvested back in Spring of 2008. The flavour is sharp with hints of dark chocolate, the tea has an aged basement-like aroma that reminds of old potato cellars in the countryside.

This tea is from the same farm as our popular 2010 Jinggu "Imperial Grade" shou puerh which is now out of stock for good.
