Green tea

In China there is an old saying that the official start of Spring is when the Emperor drinks the year’s first cup of freshly-plucked green tea. Green tea is that closely linked not only to Chinese culture, history - but also to nature itself! The world of green tea is as wide as the country which gave birth to it itself. It can be grassy and fresh-tasting, sweet, nutty, creamy, sharp or mellow, calming, energising, balancing or refreshing - or any combination! To make green tea, leaves are harvested, and as quickly as possible heated (in China usually briefly pan-fried, in Japan usually briefly steamed) to prevent oxidation, then possibly rolled, roasted or twisted and dried. Each one of these teas in our selection has its own particular set of pleasing characteristics - try them all, travel your taste buds!
