2024 Big Snow Mountain sheng puerh maocha
Harvested in Spring 2024 from Da Xue Shan ("Big Snow Mountain") in Mengku, Lincang county in Yunnan. It's one of the northernmost regions for making puerh tea and is known for it's aromatic high altitude tea as the gardens slope between 2200 to 2800 meters above sea level. The nights tend to be cooler and there's plentiful of fogs that bring the needed moisture to the plants. Mengku is home to Dai people who have been producing tea here for at least 500 years.
The tea is processed in simple farmer fashion, fried over woks using live fire - giving it a slightly smokey character - and dried in the sun. The leaves are left unsorted as mao cha ("rough tea"), so it includes different leaf sizes as well as stems. Great also to drink straight from cup of bowl, a few leaves covered with boiling water.
Brewing tips: 5g / 200ml / 100C / rinse, I - 1min, II - 1min, III - 1-2min
