Our story

Chado’s roots as a business extend back to 2004, with the founding by Steve Kokker of FirstFlush. His desire was to raise the tea drinking culture in Estonia by being the first to bring in high-quality teas and distribute them through restaurants, hotels, cafes and supermarkets. They did tons of public demos, trying to introduce words and tastes like ‘matcha’, ‘oolong’, ‘puerh’ and ‘mate’ to a population who had never heard of them. The responses were everything from excited to suspicious, from ‘OMG’ to ‘Mmm, interesting’.

Yet the roots of this company go back further, to Steve’s years-long love affair with Chinese tea, and, before that, herbal teas. As a teen, he loved to introduce friends to new taste experiences. This has continued well into adulthood! This spirit of enthusiastic sharing of what we believe is good continues through all of Chado’s staff, particularly through the skilled hands and sharpened consciousness of manager Timo Einpaul.

Chado's calling

Opened hearts create a better society. Drinking ‘living’ tea opens hearts. Our purpose is to inspire great tea moments, To add value to our community. Simple. But so is the tea leaf. And an opened heart!

We at Chado are here to spread the magic of tea, and the quiet little moments In life which we are often too busy to stop and enjoy - such as a sip of tea.

Or rising steam. Or the look of calm spreading across a friend’s face. Tea is not a commodity for us. It is not just a job. It is a way of being kind to our bodies, a way of connecting with nature. We wish to marry our clients to the best tea experiences.
