Taiwanese porcelain is both elegant and durable. This is the classic "Shui Ping" shape. The name translates to "Floats on water" - since the middle of last century it is the most widely made Chinese tea pot shape as Chinese government declared it to be the ultimate design and thus under several decades potters had to make for the most part tea pots in this shape.
It is said that a finely made Shui Ping indeed floats on water and doesn't drown. We have tried out a number of them over the years and indeed, it is so. How to put this special attribute to use, I don't know, but it is sure cool and the design has proven itself as both aesthetical as well as functional.
Compared to glass pots porcelain holds heat better, compared to clay the tea tastes sharper. Therefore it is often the preference for material when making fine aromatic teas.
