Long Jing "Dragon Well" green tea, organic

Absolute classic! Soft, silky, nutty and vegetal, low bitterness! Dragon Well might very well be the most famous among Chinese green teas. The origin story tells about a drought that was circumvented by offering prayers to the dragon who lived in a well beneath the Lion Peak Mountain in Hangzhou - the dragon granted rain and the people in celebration started calling the tea made there thus. The legendary status was solidified by later becoming a tribute tea for the imperial court. The tea is immediately recognizable by the shape, as it is made with a special pan-firing technique that renders the leaves flat. Our certified organic Long Jing comes from Hangzhou in Zhejiang. The flavour is soft, silky, nutty (reminding one of almonds and hazelnuts), a bit bean-like. Long Jing exhibits vegetal, not grassy flavours, and is of very low bitterness. There are very many version of this tea in varying grades, we are very happy to be able to offer this classic tea in an organic and affordable yet quality version.
