Menghai Red, Chinese red tea

This wonderful red tea comes from Menghai, Yunnan, China from an semi-wild ecological tea garden, in China often described with the word 'shengtai'. The plants are allowed to grow with very little human interference and there's an effort to create a more dynamic ecosystem by planting different plants and trees inbetween rows of tea plants.

The flavour is brisk and fruity, berry-like, with only very little astringency and a smooth silky texture.
