Sencha Zairai, Japanese green tea, organic

Classic lightly steamed sencha with a seaweed-like flavour. Zairai means seed-grown - they are the descendants of the historic tea plants that were brought over from China. There are not many Zairai-fields left in Japan, as the flavour differs from year to year making the leaf difficult to work with for farmers. Also the leaves look less uniform, uniformity being aspect which the Japanese appreciate greatly. We don't mind however, as it makes this sort of tea that brims with life energy also available in the west. The tea is EU certified organic.
