Xian Piao modern Zhuni Yixing pot
This Yixing teapot was half-handmade in a small series production using a mold to shape the body and lid by master Wang Zhongyin. The 110ml sized teapot is a version of "Xian Piao", translated as "Straight Scoop" - this modest looking shape is functional with any type of tea, inspired both by scoop shaped pots as well as pear shaped ones, as there are many different styles made. Inside the pot you can find a fine ball style clay filter.
It is a type of Hongni Yixing "Red" clay that is mixed with small amounts of another clay named Duanni for the speckled effect, blended in a coarse manner to achieve a more robust rustic looking texture for the pot. Compared to other clays it fired at a slightly higher temperature and is more dense, therefore it is traditionally used for more aromatic teas, such as oolongs.
