Tokoname Kyusu "Bark"

Delicate unglazed Japanese sidehandled kyusu pot for brewing Japanese whole leaf green teas. This pot is made from Tokoname clay by ceramic artist Umehara Hirotaka, born in 1946.

Tokoname is a famous pottery region and is the oldest of Japanese "Six Ancient Kilns" dating back more than 900 years. Particulary high-quality teapots are made here and the demand for Tokoname clay pots have increased steadily as the clay brings out the flavour beautifully.
