Grassy, light-bodied but sharp, this almost-gyokuro has a strong, pleasing character.
Sencha Kire is a gentle, grassy and sharp sencha from Kagoshima Prefecture in southern Japan. Before harvesting, this tea is shaded in a similar way to gyokuro for 21 days to emphasize the leaves’ delicate and sweet characteristics body. Nevertheless, since its production is slightly simpler and it is in a significantly cheaper price-range tea than gyokuro, we decided not to call it that. Made from the popular Yabukita shrub variety (while most classic gyokuros are made from other varietals), bred from tea bushes growing wild in Shizuoka. The harvest takes place from April to May. Certified EU organic.
